ABOUT US

Our Vision
The Napanee Ball Hockey Association (founded in 2026) is proud to start a Minor Ball Hockey League in Napanee, launching in the summer of 2026! Welcome the NAPANEE STORM! Our primary goal is to provide a fun, safe environment where children can learn the game, develop skills, and build friendships. We want children to foster a lifelong love of movement and sport, strengthen local connections!

This league started with a simple idea: children deserve more opportunities to play.
In our community, there are many children who love hockey, but not every family wants or can access traditional ice hockey. Between costs, travel, time commitments, and pressure, too many children miss out on the joy of the game. Nikki started this league because they believe that kids deserve more opportunities in their own community to play a great sport and feel like they belong -- and ball hockey felt like the perfect fit!
As a parent and a competitive athlete, Nikki has seen firsthand how powerful sports can be. Hockey is a such a big part of the Napanee and Area community! Creating the Napanee Ball Hockey Association, creates an accessible, inclusive and affordable sport option for families in our community.

REGULATIONS
RULES
*We use OBHA rules. If you would like to read the full rule book, head over to their website. Here is a summary:
-Teams start the game in the opposite end to their bench.
- Games start on time with the 3 minute warm up.
- After the warm up, the game starts with 6 players, (5 runners and 1 goalie).
-Players can only play on the team that they are rostered to. An exception can be made by Nikki. Due to the importance of goalies, we will make an exception to goalies playing for other teams if needed but MUST be written on the game sheet and MUST have the letters AP (affiliated player) beside their name.
-Ball must hit the floor and be played with the stick first or play is stopped and faceoff player is removed. Rule 57(a).
-We have a floating blue line rule. Blue line is not used once the ball crosses the line.
-Tape is allowed on sticks
Refs are NOT medically trained and not responsible to treat any injuries. Teams must attend to injuries.
Harassment of officials, or yelling at players, will be penalized harshly.

EQUIPMENT

What equipment is required? CSA helmet with full facial protection; CSA approved gloves, soccer style shin guards (covered by socks), hockey stick and running shoes are mandatory. We also strongly recommend that children wear elbow pads and kneepads. Full goalie equipment is required and not provided.
